Back From Wodonga
Veronica and I drove back from a weekend at Carolyn's Quilting Room in Wodonga today.
We had a wonderful time and met some lovely girls who travelled far and wide to come to my classes. Some of the ladies had driven from Melbourne, Cooma and Wagga and of course there were the loyal local girls who regularly sew in Carolyn's sunny work room. It is very humbling to learn how much trouble ladies go to in order to attend one of my classes!
We received a lovely welcome from Shelly at the shop and enjoyed showing quilts to the ladies at the Friday night showcase. They were especially interested to see the different versions of my quilts which Veronica brought with her.
Saturday was a very busy class with 18 ladies eager to learn the intricacies of applique and piecing in my medallion "Netherfield" quilt. It is always exciting to start a new quilt and pick out some "gorgy" fabrics!
Carolyn's shop did not disappiont with its reputation for being the "Repro queen's paradise". Veronica enjoyed shopping and I easily managed to find a delicious bundle that had to come home with me.
Sunday was spent teaching machine piecing of courthouse step blocks and machine applique for "Bloomin' Logs". I think there are going to be some beautiful versions of this quilt emerging from that class. Several ladies chose quite different colours to mine for their quilts. Looking forward to receiving some photographs of progress made.
Thank you ladies for a great weekend.
