Appliqué Continues in Nowra

Veronica and I had a lovely day with the ladies at Jukejema Quilting Barn in Nowra.

It is a long two hour drive there and back but we always receive a great welcome and enjoy the show and tell from the ladies working on their "Pemberley" quilts.

Here are some of the photos from the day.

Well done ladies! Looking forward to seeing your progress in November.

Another Successful Whitecroft Traditional Tour with Michele Hill

I have been keeping up with the blog posts Michele Hill has been posting on her site.  She has just completed another William Morris tour in England with Whitecroft Traditional Tours.

Her photographs are really spectacular and it looks as though all the ladies on her tour had a feast of information and inspiration (as well as a feast on the dinner table).

I cannot wait to join Helen Bertram on the Jane Austen tour she is organising for 2015.  Still two years to wait but it is lovely to have something to look forward to so much.

At the moment Michele and her husband Larry are in beautiful Bath where the Jane Austen tour will be based. Wow!

Make sure you check out Michele's blog by clicking on the following link: Michele Hill Blog.

Foundation Piecing Workshop

I started a new series of workshops at Narellan teaching a lovely group of ladies some of my foundation pieced quilts.

Some of the ladies are making my quilt called "Cherry Ripe".  Mine is a concoction of gorgeous pink and dark chocolate brown fabrics.

Dell and Melvine are following this colour scheme while Dawn is making her quilt in teal and brown.

Here are their centre pineapple blocks. I love this block, it looks so complicated but is relatively easily made using paper foundation piecing techniques.  It is very exciting as the block design emerges.

The first is Dell's centre. So pretty!

Next is Melvine's.  Wow, it looks great!

The next one was made by Dawn.  Gorgy!

Well done, ladies.  More photos to come when we have another class.

Excited to Return to Patchwork Plus, Miranda

I am very pleased that I have been able to change my schedule next year to be able to return to teach at Lorraine Downey's wonderful shop, Patchwork Plus, in Jackson Avenue, Miranda.

I have taught for Lorraine a number of times over the past ten years and always have a fabulous time there.  The ladies there love their hand appliqué and English paper piecing so I am hopeful they will enjoy making some of the quilts from my Jane Austen Quilt Collection.

I will be teaching at Miranda on the third Wednesday of every month from 19th February, 2014.

Quilts on offer are pictured below:

"Pemberley"

"Netherfield"

"Longbourne"

"Rosings"

"Hunsford"

I hope to see in class at Miranda.  Please phone the shop directly on 02 95402786.

New Projects for Class

Here are a couple of smaller projects I have completed for a Melbourne Cup Day Class to be held in November.

The first is a heavily hand quilted cushion using a beautiful fabric called "Birdsong".

The next is a drawstring dilly bag made in Moda's Lario range of pretty fabrics.

Great fun!

Cath's "Netherfield"

It is wonderful to see another finished quilt from my Jane Austen Quilt Collection.

Here is Cath's completed "Netherfield".  She was calling it "never ending" but here it is finally finished.  It is very delightful in shades of soft gold, pink and green.  Surprisingly, it does not contain purple, Cath's favourite colour!

Congratulations!

Finishing Class Kept Me Busy

The students in my class kept me very busy today helping them complete a number of projects we have been working on.

Firstly we had Kylie complete her very colourful "Rosings". We measured carefully and added her final border and mitred the corners.  Gorgeous!!!

Next is Jan's spectacular "Rococo" blocks pieced in the setting of my "Elegant Sampler" quilt. She made sixteen blocks to make a king sized bed quilt.  Just a final border of the green and gold paisley fabric to sew on and it is done! Very rich and elegant.

Here are Lynn's "Rococo" blocks set on point in the zig zag formation of my original quilt.  Looking wonderful, Lynn!

Then Miss Julie put together all of her "Pemberley" blocks with their sashing strips of border fabric. We have been looking forward to putting it together for a long time so it was very exciting to see it all joined together. Just the final border which we had cut and half pinned on but ran out of time.  Very nearly there!  It looks amazing with her favourite teal blue background.

Then Tracey was working on her version of my "Elizabeth" quilt from Homespun magazine.  Tracey bought a lot of the John Hewson reproduction fabric as soon as it hit the shop and was waiting for me to design something with it.  She also bought the border fabric from the range and we used it for her final border.  Wow, it looks great! You can see how happy she is.  Well done, Tracey, I love it too !

Kelly has finished two of her quilts I designed to use a jelly roll, with some border help from Michelle!
The first one is called Jelly Nation...

The second one is Jelly Jewels.  Great work, girls!

Robin was also working on one of my jelly roll designs called Jelly Mosaic.  She had a fat eighth bundle of fabric.  Here it is...  Fabulous!

In the afternoon Kylie worked on her "Pemberley". Here is her completed centre and some of her lovely fussy cut hexagons.  They are so pretty, quite a few William Morris fabrics used.  She is really enjoying her quilt.

Thanks for a great fun and productive day, ladies!
