Release of Jane Austen "Pemberlini" Quilt Pattern on Craftsy

For all those ladies who have admired my Jane Austen Quilt Collection and asked me to sell the patterns, I have now released the pattern for my smaller quilt design called "Pemberlini" to purchase through Craftsy.  Very exciting!

The comprehensive pattern of notes and pattern sheets will guide you through my techniques for English paper piecing and hand applique.

I selected a beautiful piece of fabric for my centre oval medallion which reminded me of a lady of Jane Austen's time.

Some of my students have created their own beautiful versions of this quilt using different fabrics of people, bouquets, toile, even Noah and Santa.  I am looking forward to seeing what other versions will be created.

The pattern incorporates several English paper piecing shapes: hexagons, circles, hexagon petals and elongated hexagons.  Great for fussy cutting from your stash in a mixture of colours and prints!

The full pattern is available through Craftsy for US$19.95 by clicking here.

A tailor made kit of paper and cutting templates for this quilt is also available for purchase from myself for $22AUD + postage (US$15.90 + postage).  Please email me on kat.had@bigpond.com to receive a PayPal invoice.

I am very excited to offer this quilt pattern for sale.  I hope you will enjoy making it.

Jane Austen Quilts in Nowra at Jukejema Quilting Barn

My lovely group of ladies at Nowra had some glorious quilts to show me yesterday.

This is Karen's soft and beautiful pastel version of "Meryton" made in Moda's "Autumn Lily" range.  Just divine.

This is Sue's amazing "Pemberley", all completed in stunning colours and gorgeous fussy cut borders.

Now we have Le-Anne's deep and beautiful "Rosings" in rich earthy colours.

After so much eye candy we got stuck into starting a new JA quilt, "Lambton".  Lots of colour variations happening here too.

Thanks for a great day Kim.

Show and Tell

I received these photographs of a beautiful version of my "Fleur" design which was published in Homespun magazine.  This quilt was made by Lorrina and quilted by "Quilt Me Quilts".

This is Melanie's wonderful small version of "Meryton" made in beautiful brown and red with a border print of swans.  It was quilted by Leanne Fawcett of Vineyard Quilting.

Launch of Katrina Hadjimichael Patterns on Craftsy

I am very excited to announce I have launched my first pattern for sale on Craftsy.

I have received a lot of enquiries over the years requesting me to sell my original quilt patterns.

The first pattern I have chosen to release is called the "Gold Rush Sampler".  This quilt features twelve machine pieced classic sampler blocks set on point.  The blocks are embellished with optional hand applique circles and leaf shapes.  I think the applique creates an added round dimension to the straight lines of the machine piecing.

Each of the sampler blocks are set on point and surrounded by a small sashing strip.  The corners are set with four pieced triangles which frame each block and make it a larger square unit.  The blocks are then sashed and cornerstone squares are added between the sashing strips.  A final wider border completes the quilt.

The "Gold Rush Sampler" is a bed sized quilt, measuring 73" x 93".

I have made the quilt in two completely different colourways: a red and gold version with brown and blue accents and a blue, pink and brown version.  Of course, my favourite fabrics are in a reproduction style but the two versions show the versatility of the design.  The quilt would also look great in many other colour schemes as well such as brights, batiks or black, white and red.

Here is my red and gold version of the "Gold Rush Sampler":

Here is my other version in blue, pink and brown:

The comprehensive pattern available to download from Craftsy includes lots of photographs of every block made up in the two colourways, detailed diagrams and written instructions for US$19.95.  The pattern has been extensively pattern tested by some of my wonderful students.  Thanks ladies!

I hope you will enjoy this pattern and I do intend to upload more patterns for sale in the future. Please spread the word and let me know what you think!  K x

Friday Sit and Sew at The Stitchers Cupboard

Lots of progress on different "Pemberley" quilts in particular at my regular Friday sit and sew.

This is Robyn's centre with the thin border print attached.  She has also completed all of her appliqué blocks.  Just the corner Dresdens to stitch on and everything to be sewn together.  Yay!  It is going to be beautiful, as are all of Robyn's quilts.

Mooneen was also working on "Pemberley".  Here is her centre with two more borders added.  Fabulous!

    Great sewing girls.

Beautiful Work by Students at The Stitchers Cupboard

It was lesson 4 for my first group of ladies making "Lambton" at The Stitchers Cupboard today.

They have excelled themselves with their beautiful colour selections and amazing workmanship.

First is Jane's beautiful centre in soft shades of green, orange and brown.  The striped fabric in her borders was an inspirational fabric choice, mitred to perfection in class today.  I love it.

This is Shirley's centre in rich deep colours.

Shirley has made two of her outside appliqué blocks.  She has a beautiful way with selecting fabrics.

Regina has completed a huge amount of work on her gorgeous quilt.  Here are all four of her outside blocks with large centre flower completed and a close up of each one.

This is my favourite:

Kelly has also put together her four beautiful blocks in reds, blues, browns and golds.  Awesome!

Just fantastic work ladies and thank you to Kelly for being my photographer today.
