Veronica's Netherfield

"Netherfield" by Veronica Appleyard

There were some beautiful quilts at the Darling Harbour Quilt Show and right up there was the "Netherfield" made by my gorgeous friend, Veronica Appleyard.

Veronica made this in my class at Pioneer Patchwork.  Her colour palette of pink, vintage purple and chocolate brown is really a stand out.

Here are some photos for you:

Veronica is such a talented quilter and she has beautiful taste in colours.  She knows exactly what to quilt on a quilt to enhance the design.

Go girl!  It looks sensational!  Thanks for all the fabulous quilting you have put on my quilts over the years.

2012 Darling Harbour

2nd Place Ribbon at 30th Anniversary NSW Quilters' Guild Quilt Show

I have had a couple of lovely days at the 2012 Darling Harbour Quilt Show, the 30th Anniversary Show staged by the NSW Quilters' Guild.

I was delighted that my "Spikes and Specks" quilt won a 2nd place ribbon in the Commercially Machine Quilted Quilt Category.  This category had an amazing 45 entries in many styles.  The standard was very high and the quilting was spectacular!  I am so lucky that the gorgeous Veronica Appleyard quilts my quilts for me, ensuring a winning combination.  Yay!!!  It was very exciting.

Here is a photo of the ribbon

Here I am, a very happy quilter:

Both of my quilt entries were hanging side by side:

Yay!

Exciting News

Darling Harbour Quilt Show

I am very excited!  I received a phone call this morning from Maree Gebhardt, President of the NSW Quilters' Guild to tell me that I have won a prize at this year's 30th Anniversary Quilt Show.

I have entered two quilts: "Rosings" and "Spikes and Specks" but I do not know which one received a prize or what it is.  I have to wait until the awards presentation at 11am this Wednesday.

My gorgeous girlfriend and partner in quilting, Veronica Appleyard, and I are going in on Wednesday to find out.

Hope the weather is better than today!

Here is a photo of me standing by Rosings at AQC.

Cheers,

Katrina
