Beautiful South Australia: Class About to Commence

I have arrived safely in Victor Harbor and it is a gorgeous sunny day.

We had show and tell last night.  Here is a glimpse of some of the work the ladies have done since last year.  This is Helen's centre for "Pemberley", looking very beautiful.

This is Danielle's gorgeous "Longbourne" in Japanese fabrics.

I am looking forward to teaching the ladies for the next three days.  I will post again when we have some progress.

Trip to Victor Harbor, South Australia

I have just finished packing my bags again.  This time I am off to Victor Harbor in South Australia to teach for Helen Campbell of The Quilting Room.

This year we will have a three day retreat where I have given the ladies a choice of making "Pemberley" or "Longbourne".

We are staying in a beach bungalow opposite the ocean and Helen will be providing the yummy food.

I have packed three Queen sized quilts, several small quilts and lots of works in progress to show the ladies. I will report next from SA.

Flowers for "Meryton"

We have spent lots of time in class today choosing beautiful fabrics to fussy cut for the flowers of "Meryton".

Here are Julie's gorgeous flowers for the corners of her centre all laid out.  They look really beautiful.

Here are Sharon's very pretty flowers for the Meryton she is making for her daughter.  Gorgy!

Here are some flowers for Glenda's centre - beautiful.

A Gallery of Small Trees

I taught a full day class at The Stitchers' Cupboard today. Half the class worked on their "Meryton" quilts and half the class made a small tree quilt to learn the process of confetti applique.

Here are five of the trees produced by (from L to R): Michelle, Kylie, Maria, Iain and Sue.

I have discovered that everyone's confetti applique looks different depending on how they cut out and place their tiny pieces.

Here is a close up of each one.

They are all gorgeous.  I love the autumn trees!

Here are some pics of the work being done on the other work table by Sharon, Julie and Jan:  Beautiful "Meryton" flowers in progress!

Two Fabulous "Hunsford" Versions - Completely Different!

Wow, take a look at the two stunning completed "Hunsford" quilts that my students brought in yesterday for show and tell:

The first one is by Kylie and beautifully quilted by Katy Law. Can you guess what is Kylie's favourite colour?  PINK, of course.

The second quilt is also a version of "Hunsford" by Jenny.  It is also beautiful and totally different:

Congratulations, ladies.  You have made two very beautiful quilts.

Wonderful "Meryton" Centres and Fussy Cutting Galore!

Here are some photos of the beautiful centres ladies have made for "Meryton" class at The Stitchers' Cupboard:

The first one is by Kylie - bright and gorgeous!

This one is by Robin in soft blues and reds with a gold star:

This one is by Jenny - stunning in pinks, purples and deep navy blue:

Look at this amazing one by Narelle in BRIGHT fabrics - fantastic.  Love it.

This gorgeous one is by Claudine in shades of purple. Beautiful.

This one is by Cindy in amazing bright batiks:  looks great!

Filming a DVD for Quilters Companion Magazine

I very much enjoyed working with the team from Quilters' Companion magazine today.  We filmed segments for a new DVD to accompany Issue Number 73 out in May.

Here I am all glammed up.  It was lovely to be pampered with a special hair do and make up.  I had bought a new outfit for the occasion.  Wow, it was hot under the lights!

I had to have a microphone fitted - first time for everything!

Clare and I are getting ready...

More make up needed...

Filming started....

After lots of talking and some sewing... nearly finished...

Thanks to Clare, John, Emma, Miriam and the team for helping me on this fun adventure.  I am now looking forward to seeing the DVD.

Getting Ready to Film my First DVD for Quilters' Companion Magazine

I have just got back from helping (well, watching) set up the studio for the filming of a DVD for Quilters' Companion magazine.

Tomorrow we will return to film segments for the instructions of a jelly roll quilt pattern which will feature in Issue #73 of the magazine, on sale in May 2015.

It is very exciting to see my quilts under lights as the backdrop to the filming.  Here is "Pemberley" (left) and "Spikes and Specks" (right).
