I have been working hard on typing, printing and collating all of the patterns needed for Summer School.
I have offered my students the option to purchase a booklet containing my own cutting and piecing instructions for 48 different 12 inch Sampler blocks. The booklet forms a reference manual to be used anytime you need a pieced Block. Three blocks would make a table runner, nine blocks would make a lap quilt and twelve or more blocks would make a great bed sized quilt.
The blocks have come from three major workshop pieces I have taught for some years.
The first is called “Elegant Sampler” (yes, I know it is not a very original name but hey, I was just starting my teaching career!). This bed sized quilt contains twelve pieced and appliquéd Sampler blocks set with unique triangle sashings which turn each block on point.
This is “Antique Stars” which contains twelve different 12inch pieced star blocks and a staggered sawtooth star border. The stars start easy and get more challenging as you work your way through the quilt.
Here are some close ups.
The next is called “Manderley”. It contains thirteen 12 inch pieced blocks, sashed and set on point to make a more masculine bed sized quilt.
All three of these samplers were quilted by the brilliant Deborah Louie.
I have also made a new project using two of the blocks from the booklet: “Summer Winds” and “Union” to create a useful Block Keeper with cotton wadding pages to house work in progress.
This is the front of the Keeper.
And this is the back:
This is the Sampler booklet.
This shows the inside with the wadding pages. Blocks will cling to this surface and remain flat and wrinkle free.
Summer School will take place at The Stitchers Cupboard in Camden on the following dates: 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22 and 24 January (0246558348) and at Hobbysew Kings Park on 9, 11, 16 and 18 January, 2018 (0296214000). Please phone the shop directly to book in.
I have spent many hours typing and preparing these patterns. Please look for my product logo and respect my copyright.
More of my patterns will be available for sale when I launch my new website next month.
Such pretty designs. That heat must be hard to cope with! Take care........a cold ice block or two might help!
