Red Ribbon for my Red and White Quilt, Sydney Quilt Show

I was thrilled to receive a second place ribbon in the special Red and White Commercially Quilted category at the Sydney Quilt Show today.

My quilt, called "Winchester", was quilted by the very talented Belinda Betts of Eucalypt Ridge Quilting in Orange, NSW.  Thanks again, Belinda, for the gorgeous quilting!

The design for my quilt was inspired by motifs on the medieval floor tiles still visible at Winchester Cathedral in England, where my heroine, Jane Austen, is buried.  My quilt is made from just two fabrics and is completely machine appliqued.  The dogtooth borders were paper foundation pieced by machine.  Belinda used a beautiful thread with a slight sheen to machine quilt lots of intricate detail on the quilt.  I hope to see the real floor tiles in October when I am in England with Whitecroft Traditional Tours.

Unfortunately I could not be at the Show today as I was teaching my regular ladies at Patchwork Plus in Miranda.  I am looking forward to going in on Sunday.  I will be demonstrating at the Quilters' Guild demonstration area in the morning and white gloving in the afternoon.  Come and say hi if you are there on Sunday.

Congratulations to all the winners!
