Road Trip

Off to Wodonga

The printing is done, the folders are compiled, the photos printed, the quilts are packed and the clothes are squeezed in to a tiny bag.... I am going on the road.

The lovely Veronica Appleyard and I are leaving tomorrow morning for a weekend at Carolyn's Quilting Room in Wodonga, Victoria.

Friday night I will be presenting a trunk show of my quilts and a talk on my quilting career and inspirations for designs.

Saturday I am teaching "Netherfield" and Sunday I will be teaching "Bloomin' Logs".

It will be lovely to meet the ladies and share our love of quilting.

I will take the camera and make sure I post some photos when we get back.

This photo of Veronica and I standing in front of "Netherfield" was taken at AQC in Melbourne.

Jane Austen Finishing School

Jane Austen Finishing School
(I just love that name!!)

I am delighted to announce that I will be conducting the "Jane Austen Finishing School" in January 2013 at Pioneer Patchwork at Narellan (Phone number 02 4647 3555).

This will give ladies who have started one of the quilts in my Jane Austen series an opportunity to come to class for further consultation and instruction.  Just because we have so much fun in class and want more, this is your chance.

The school will run on the following dates:

Tuesday 8 January
Thursday 10 January
Saturday 12 January

Tuesday 15 January
Thursday 17 January
Saturday 19 January, 2013

The school will take place between 10am and 4pm each day and each class will be $55.00.

You can book in for just one day or all six days or any number of days of your choice.

If you have started "Pemberley", "Netherfield" or "Longbourne" and not yet finished, this is a great opportunity  for inspiration and the time to get more sewing done.

Some ladies who have already finished their quilt have asked if they can start a different quilt in the series.  As long as you have completed one of the quilts and book into at least 3 days of the school, you can start another quilt in the series (excluding Rosings).

For photographs of the quilts, go to the "Jane Austen Quilt Collection" page button at the top right corner of this blog.

Hope to see you at the Jane Austen Finishing School!

Quilts for Quiltsmith

Quilt Classes at Quiltsmith

Just a reminder that I am teaching on the fourth Thursday of every month at Quiltsmith in Annandale.

Here are some of the machine pieced quilts I am offering to teach.

The first is called "Cherry Ripe" for obvious reasons!  The colour scheme of pink and chocolate is very appealing.

Here is a closeup of the centre foundation pieced pineapple block and surrounds:

Another quilt is my "Ashbourne Mill" which is pieced using a combination of foundation piecing and template piecing.  The traditional block is called "Dusty Miller" and I have manipulated the background fabric colours to disguise the block intersections.

Hope you can join me in class,

Longbourne Update

Progress on "Longbourne"

Some of the girls at Pioneer Patchwork have made a lot of progress on their "Longbourne" quilts.

This is Sue's beautiful quilt centre. Her elongated hexagons and lovely little "baby hexagons" are lovely.

This is Kelly's "gorgy" quilt:

This is Jenny's very lovely pastel version in shades of light blue, pink and mauve.

This is Robyn's beautiful quilt centre, with very pretty hexagons and soft pink borders.

Well done, girls!!!

Longbourne Class

Longbourne Class at Lyn's Fine Needlework

Class for "Longbourne" at Lyn's at Baukham Hills is scheduled to start on Saturday 25 August.

Here is the quilt hanging at Jeannette's stall at the Mad Hatter's Quilt Show at Penrith on the weekend.

If you would like to join the class please send me an email or contact the shop directly.

Students Work at Camden Show

It was lovely to see some of my students work on display at the Camden Quilt Show.

Here is Michelle's stunning bargello quilt.  My original was called "Canobolas" after the mountain outside Orange, NSW, which I visited in Autumn when the trees were in full colour.

Michelle's reminds me of fire.  It is spectacular.  By the way, t is hanging next to my "Rosings".

Veronica also made "Canobolas" in different colours of orange and green.  Wow!

Veronica's version of my "Netherfield" won a ribbon for second place in the longarm quilting category.

Here it is:

And here is her well deserved ribbon for a gorgeous quilt.

It was a lovely Show and we were so lucky with the weather: cold in the mornings but turned out sunny.

Camden Quilt Show

Viewers' Choice at Camden Quilt Show

I was delighted that my quilt "Spikes and Specks" received the First Place Award for Longarm Quilting at the Camden Country Quilters Guild Annual Quilt Show held last weekend.  My quilt was magnificently quilted by Veronica Appleyard.

The quilting is superb on this quilt and it looked so great hanging there in the light at the end of an aisle of members' quilts!

On the Sunday afternoon it was announced that this quilt also won the Viewers' Choice award voted by guests attending the Show over the weekend.  Yay!

You can see the fabulous quilting in the photo.
