Rococo Blocks

Some of my ladies at Richmond have done a lot of work creating beautiful Le Moyne star blocks from their whack and stack fabric for their "Rococo" quilts.

Here are Judy's blocks. She used a wonderful floral of pink and blue, gold and green.  The first photo shows some smaller scale stars she has made from the leftovers.  Then there are several photos of her larger stars. Isn't it amazing the endless variety of patterns created?

It was a lovely Spring day, even if a little windy.  Mary's wisteria was looking gorgeous and the scent hit you as soon as you got out of the car!

Some Applique on "Rosings"

I held another "Rosings" class at Narellan yesterday.  The ladies had a LOT of appliqué to do between classes!

Here is some of their work in progress.

Margaret wanted to make a very subtle and soft version on a beautiful light green background.  Here is one corner of her appliqué in delightful soft apricots, creams and greens.  Her pot is lovely too.

This is Elaine's quilt.  She wanted to use a cream background.  She was not sure of colours for her flowers but the yellow and pink and blue she has used give the centre a lift.  We sorted out colours for the other flowers and she is now well on her way!  Looks great.

This is Kerry's quilt.  Kerry has made lots of my quilt designs in class and it is a running joke that every quilt is green and it is not missing from her "Rosings".  Like Margaret, Kerry has used a lovely green background but Kerry's colours for her centre piecing and appliqué are deeper and bolder.  I showed in a previous post that Kerry fussy cut her urn.  It looks awesome! A close up follows.

This is Sue's urn.  She has adapted the handles to work in with the pattern on the fabric she is using for her final border.  I think it looks like a very special antique Grecian urn.  Cool!

The next photos are of Leanne's "Rosings".  Leanne loves pink but we also have a lot of beautiful red in this one!  It is gorgeous.

Here is Leanne's pieced centre. Wow!

Here is Birgit's appliqué corner.  She is working on a stunning red background with lots of French General fabrics, particularly Le Belle Fleur.  Fabulous!  Good luck to Birgit for the birth of her baby in the near future xxxx

Thanks ladies for a lovely class and happy stitching until next time.

Wonderful Work on "Pemberley" at Narellan

Here is another Show and Tell!  This time from the girls in my recent "Pemberley" class at Pioneer Patchwork.

This first one has been made by Chris.  She says this colour scheme is out of her comfort zone (frequent blog readers will remember her magnificent Netherfield in navy and red on a white background!) but I think she has managed rather well!  Don't you?  It is gorgeous.

Here are some close ups.

This one has been made by Jean.  She has used some lovely strong fabrics in red and greens and browns.  Very rich!

This one is by Jan. Thank you Jan for saying this has been the most fun sewing you have had this year!
Jan's quilt centre is very beautiful with its strong teal blue background and amazing orange border.  Wow!

The next one has been made by Dianne. This is also very rich in red and brown.  She has very strong contrasts in fabric values which makes all the shapes stand out.  I love it!

This one is by Elaine. What beautiful fabrics she has used.  I love her blue "wiggly" border.

Well done, ladies!  I hope you will come back and show me your completed quilts.

Hope you all have time for stitching in your day!  I have not sewn for a couple of weeks,  too busy!!  I am having withdrawals!

More Lovely Work at the Misty Mountains Workshops

I conducted another workshop for the Misty Mountains Quilters at Wentworth Falls today.

The ladies have been working very hard on their quilts.  It was amazing to see the variety of quilts with all the different colour schemes chosen.  They are all beautiful in different ways and elicited a lot of oohs and aahs from those present.

Here is a glimpse of the show and tell.

The first photos are of Victoria's quilt. Her fabric choice is very bold and dramatic.

Here is Faye showing her quilt.  Her version is very sunny and happy with a strong yellow background and appliqué features in pink, blue, green and gold.

So beautiful, but she has still not decided on her urn fabrics!

This lovely one belongs to Jill. Her fabrics are soft and her attention to detail is fabulous.  I have some delightful close ups to follow.

This one belongs to Kerry.  She has used lots of different fabrics from her stash of reproduction fabrics.  I love her border stripe in blue cut across the width.  Wonderful!

This one has been made by Jean.  She chose soft blues and golds.  This reminds me of the sea.

Here is Therese with her version.  It was her birthday today so we all sang and ate yummy birthday cake.  She was also given a copy of the new novel called "Longbourn" which tells the story of Pride and Prejudice from the perspective of the servants!  Very appropriate!  Her quilt was nice too! She has used my favourite colour (brown) for her border background with lots of soft golds on top.

This one belongs to Meg.  The colours of her centre are strong and then her hexagons are very soft using French General fabrics and then the next border she is holding up contains some fabrics of stronger value again.  Great planning there.

This one is very fresh with lots of blues on white.  Barbara is a marvel having just had a hip replacement operation.  Well done!

Here is Anne's version made in spectacular Kaffe Fassett fabrics.  Wow!  It is looking just so amazing and of course so completely different.

Thanks for a great day ladies.  Looking forward to the next class.
