The Galong Patchwork Weekend

I recently had the pleasure of teaching my “Longbourne” quilt at a wonderful retreat in rural New South Wales at Galong.

Galong is north west of Yass.  Here it is on the map, for my international readers!
270km, about three hours drive from home.

This is the beautiful tree lined avenue on the driveway to the venue.

The beautiful historic buildings of the St Clements conference and Retreat Centre.

Also, lovely gardens despite the drought conditions here.

I taught a delightful group of 12 ladies lots of my EPP and hand appliqué techniques over a very busy two day period.
Here is some of the class at show and tell at the end of the weekend.

Ilse had fun working on her blocks for “Aussie Sue”.

I was thrilled to see three of my quilt designs represented at the Saturday night show and tell.

“Hartfield” by Lesley.

“Pemberley” by Fay.

“Lambton” by Maggie.

Here are some close ups of this beautiful “Lambton”.

Fellow tutors showed their students work at the conclusion of the retreat.

Here is Catherine Butterworth who was teaching a detailed feathered star quilt.

Chris Timmins was teaching her beautiful bargello designs.

Deborah helped ladies on their UFOs.

Jan Clarke taught fabulous machine free motion stitching to create little blue wrens.

It was a fabulous weekend, very busy, went way too fast.  Lots of laughing, eating, sewing and friendship.

I will be back in 2021!  Thank you to everyone who helped organise this event, Lesley,  Deborah, Janet and the whole Committee.
