What have I been doing?

I have been very busy preparing for all my regular classes which start this week.  Especially exciting is the commencement of teaching the seventh quilt in the Jane Austen Quilt Collection "Lambton".  I know a lot of ladies have been patiently waiting for this one!

I have been asked many times to sell these major patterns but I do not think it is fair to my loyal students who all pay considerable amounts to attend class.  A huge amount of work and time goes into each of these quilts from the design process, all the hand stitching, typing notes, hand drawing pattern sheets and the preparation of printing, photographs and class folders.  I will most likely release the patterns for sale in a few years time.

I am also busy preparing for a three day annual retreat I conduct for The Quilting Room in Victor Harbor, South Australia.  I love this special retreat organised by Helen Campbell.  I love to meet up with some of the SA ladies I have taught for the past few years.  This year I am teaching them "Meryton".

I can show you a glimpse of the next Jane Austen quilt I have been working on, to be called "Hartfield".  This is the house where Emma Woodhouse lives with her father in the delightful Austen novel "Emma". Hard to believe she wrote this over 200 years ago!

If you are on FaceBook, please send me a Friend Request as I often post extra photos there.

Monday Class at The Stitchers Cupboard

Monday class is always so much fun.  We all have a great time laughing, eating, sharing, singing and some sewing.

Here is some of the work:

The centre of Jan's "Santalini" quilt, so gorgeous.

Glynnis was working on wavy appliqué borders for her Christmas quilt.

More on Jan's with wavy borders done and elongated hexagon rows all stitched together.

Glynne has finished her 1930s version of my Jane Austen needle packet keeper.  So pretty.

Glenda has the centre of her "Now and Zen" quilt together.

Great work ladies.

I am so excited that my quilt "Ashbourne Mill" is on the cover of the latest January/February edition of the French magazine Quiltmania!

Whilst it is not out in Australia yet, they have released some photographs on Facebook of Issue Number 111.  Yay!  Looking forward to seeing a copy.

Second Class for Summer School at The Stitchers Cupboard

Another busy day of cutting, pinning, sewing and appliqué prep at The Stitchers Cupboard today.

Kerry made lots of blocks for her fabulous "Now and Zen" quilt in the most wonderful bright layer cake of orange, green, turquoise and red. Wow, wow.  It is going to be sensational!

Lyn is making progress on her beautiful feminine version of "Pemberlini".  Just delightful!

Kelly added more borders to her stunning "Netherfield" in tones of pink and purple.  Wow!

And lots more activity as well.  Another busy class booked out for this Friday but there are a couple of places for next Wednesday (20th) and Friday (22nd).  Phone 02 4655 8348.

Summer School Starts at The Stitchers Cupboard

We had a lovely day working in the cool at The Stitchers Cupboard today.  The shop is now open for the year with a great sale on.

Jan showed us the progress she has made on her "Jelly Mosaic" using a jelly roll.  It looks great.

Two of the ladies are making "Now and Zen" using a layer cake.  Here are blocks made so far by Julie and Glenda.

Two others, Jan and Glyniss are making a Christmas version of my little "Pemberlini", which we have dubbed "Santalini".  Too funny.  Here is the centre medallion.  It is going to be so gorgeous.

Another class on Wednesday and Friday this week.

Retreats With "The Quilting Room"

I am very much looking forward to another visit to South Australia next month to catch up with all my lovely girls from previous retreats and meet some new ladies.

I have been returning each year for an annual Victor Harbor retreat hosted by gorgeous Helen Campbell of The Quilting Room.

This year I am teaching "Meryton" from Friday 26 to Monday 29 February.

I have been receiving progress reports from many of the ladies as they are putting together their centre hexagon medallion for their quilt.  A great head start on the work involved and in selecting colours.

Here are some of the centres made by Christine, Jackie and Danielle:

The ladies have created a "Jane Austen Quilt Support Group" which meets regularly so that the ladies can sit and sew and show progress on their quilts.

I received these photos from the recent get together.  This is a stunning "Pemberley" centre.  She has added some amazing birds. Love it.

Danielle had just received her beautiful Japanese version of "Longbourne" from quilter Tracey Browning. It is a masterpiece!

Wow!

Next year I will be teaching "Lambton" for The Quilting Room from 24 to 27 February 2017.

We have a fabulous long weekend in a great setting with superb food, company, laughs, sewing and a great view across to the beach at Victor Harbor.  More information from www.thequiltingroom.com.au.
