Introducing “Donwell Abbey”

I am delighted to reveal my brand new quilt, the tenth in my Jane Austen Quilt Collection, called “Donwell Abbey”.

This is the centre, featuring lots of fussy cut scallops, Dresdens and circles.

The quilt has lots of English paper piecing and hand appliqué in bold colours of red, black, gold and a touch of blue.

I have really enjoyed making this quilt.  I am definitely a fan of the colour red and think it comes to life against the black and gold.

I began the quilt over two years ago and am thrilled to now finish it.  It will soon be sent to the lovely Helen Hayes in Melbourne for quilting.

Over the past year, I have given lots of hints about this quilt and taken several style shots along the way.  Here they are.

Now you can piece them all together.  

This will be my major teaching piece for 2019.  Classes are already filling.

Another Busy Week of Classes

Lots happening in class this week with my three monthly classes at Hobbysew Kings Park and my new class starting at Post Office Patchwork, Glenbrook on Friday.

This is the centre for “Netherfield” by Pauline.  Just lovely.

Caroline has made a great job of her “Lambton” Centre since we met at the Blackheath Anne Sommerlad retreat.  Stunning work.

Rhonda began piecing blocks for her “Henrietta” quilt.

At Hobbysew, Rae has done some lovely work on her “Lambton” Centre.  Love the hexies.

The tiny hexagons for Suzanne’s “Hartfield” are now in place.  Lovely!

Wendy has finished three amazing compass blocks for “The Way Ahead”.  Wow!

Gorgeous work by Sharon on her “Spikes and Specks”, joining it all together!!!

Jill has completed the appliqué on her beautiful “D’Arcy” cushion.  Love it.  The pattern and kit of templates are available on my website.

Weekend Away in Wodonga

I have just returned from a trip to Wodonga in Victoria to teach at Carolyn Konig’s Quilt Designs.

A very busy class with girls making all different projects.

Lovely friends from Melbourne drove up for the class.  They continued working on various quilts.

This is Michelle’s striking “Lambton” Centre.  Wow!

Jenny was working on her beautiful “Pemberley” in Dutch Heritage fabrics, pinks and blues.

Charmaine also made progress on her “Pemberley” Centre.

Bernie was working on “Hartfield”.

And so was Ro.

Chrissy has enjoyed making lots of fussy cut elongated hexagons for her “Hartfield” quilt.

She has also fussy cut a number of different shapes from the same feature fabric.  Very clever!

Donna is using a Jinny Beyer Border to fussy cut her elongated zig zag Border for “Hartfield”.

Karenne made progress on “Highbury”.

Jackie made some pretty EPP frames for “Longbourne”.

Jenny showed us her completed “Wentworth”, started at one of my Kurri Kurri retreats.  It is gorgeous.
