New Block of the Month Program Starting in June

New Block of the Month Program

I am designing a new Block of the Month Program for Pioneer Patchwork at Narellan.

The program will run over a 14 month period commencing in June 2013.

The quilt will consist of (61) 6" finished blocks: 9 blocks will be hexagon flowers appliqued onto a background square; 4 blocks will have different Rose of Sharon applique flowers and 48 blocks will be different machine pieced sampler blocks.

Month 1 will consist of three metres of background fabric; 3 fat eighths of different fabrics; papers for hexagon blocks and detailed instructions for four pieced blocks.

Months 2 -14 will consist of 3 fat eighths and detailed instructions for four blocks.

The cost for Month 1 will be $60 Australian and thereafter the cost will be $20 per month debited from a credit card account each month.  Postage charges will be additional to this.

There will be two colour options to choose from: traditional reproductions or beautiful brights.

The background fabric for the reproduction option will be a medium value Primitive Muslin from Moda fabrics or equivalent.

Here is a photo of the reproduction blocks made so far.  The background is a soft beige and the blocks will be made in a wide variety of pink, blue, brown, green and gold.

The background fabric for the bright option will be either a black Muslin Mate or white Muslin Mate from Moda.  You will need to specify colour choice of background at the time of registration.

These are the bright blocks.  The top ones are made with the black background and the bottom with the white background.  The bright colours are the same for the pieced blocks.  I love both of them - can't decide which background I like the most.

Month 14 will include detailed instructions for setting the 61 blocks on point with sashing strips in between and cornerstone squares.  The completed quilt will measure approximately 82 inches square with borders.

If you are interested in starting this fun Block of the Month program, please phone the shop on 02 4647 3555 with your credit card details to register.

More on "Rosings"

More on "Rosings" Classes

These are the photos from today's "Rosings" class at Pioneer Patchwork, Narellan.

The first is Jan's centre in beautiful pink and teal.  The centre circle will be her final border fabric.  Her background is a soft brown.

This is Janine's centre which is set on a glorious deep green background.  She has used a lot of wonderful William Morris prints in orange, brown and black.

This is Katy's centre which is set on wonderful rich red.  Love the paisley...

This is the start of Chris' applique urn with vines and flowers.  I showed you Chris' centre last week.  Looks spectacular with her striped vines...

This is Tracey's beautiful repro version in soft pink, teal and red plus gorgeous fussy cut flowers:

This is Colleen's centre.  She finished putting it together today.  Looks great in rich red, gold and brown.

Well done girls.  Enjoy your applique!

Having Fun with "Rosings"

Applique Embellishments

The girls at Pioneer Patchwork are working on their centre blocks and applique pieces for their "Rosings" quilts.  Some are finding the dark background a challenge but the results are looking great!

Here are some more photos:

Here are some of the hexagons the girls have "fussy cut".  The first ones are by Jan.  Her quilt is delicate and pretty.

These are by Chris at the opposite end of the colour scale.  Very dramatic.

More close ups of Jan's hexagons:

Fabulous work, girls!

Three Wonderful "Millefiori" Quilts

Three Wonderful Versions of "Millefiori"

I love receiving emails and photographs from my students when they have completed one of my quilt designs from a workshop or magazine!

Today I received a lovely message and photograph of Carla and her completed "Millefiori" Whack and Stack quilt which she has called "Corroberee Sites".  The fabrics and designs created remind her of indigenous Australian art.

Carla attended workshops I conducted for the lovely ladies of Epping Quilters Inc.

Carla's quilt looks really stunning!  The orange really makes it pop!

Here is a photo of Edna with her version of my "Millefiori" Whack and Stack design.  She also attended workshops with the Epping Quilters Inc.

Would you believe Carla and Edna used exactly the same fabric print in different colourways?  Isn't it just amazing what a difference the colour make?  I think Edna's looks like starfish and sea creatures.

Here is a full shot of Edna's quilt:

Here is another photograph from the Epping ladies.  This quilt was made by Jenny from a Kaffe Fassett fabric.  Wow, it looks beautiful and is just back from the quilter...

"Pemberley" at Lyn's

BEAUTIFUL "PEMBERLEY" CENTRES

Here are some photos of the gorgeous "Pemberley" centres sewn by the girls at Lyn's Fine Needlework at Baulkham Hills.

The first one is by Pat.  She has used some very lovely William Morris fabrics on a Jinny Beyer background.  Her pot has pretty small birds on it.  And let me point out that Pat is NOT using much pink this time.

The next one has been stitched by Drew.  Her colours of red and blue are very rich.

Next one was made by Leslie.  She is using some amazing "fussy cuts" from a piece of Japanese fabric.  Note her awesome pot and hexagon flowers.

Last one to show you was stitched by Glenda. She loves purple, red and green.

It is amazing how different the exect same pattern can look using different colours and fabrics.  I love seeing how every person interprets the design differently with colour.

Meredith, I am waiting to see yours....

Future classes to be held at Lyns Fine Needlework this year are as follows:

"Spikes and Specks"
Saturdays 6 July, 3 August and 7 September

"Florentine"
Saturdays 5 October, 2 November and 7 December

Please phone the shop directly on 02 9686 2325 to book into class.
