Variations on a Theme: Little Trees

I was asked to teach a one day beginners class on paper foundation piecing at the 2013 SA Quilt Encounter.  They chose my cushion project called, very originally, "Christmas Trees"!

Here is my original cushion:

Here are the different variations that the class made:

The first one was made by Nancy with a lovely reproduction green floral final border.

Vicki made five blocks in red and green to make a lovely table centre.

Chris made this bright and beautiful version in some vivid greens:

This belongs to Kaye.  She is making a wall hanging with nine blocks.  Three blocks will be made in each colourway: blue, green and grey/black.  She has a great Christmas border with those colours in it.  Looking forward to seeing it finished.

This one was made by Aileen with wonderful bright borders.

Trudy made this wonderful variation with six tree blocks placed at different angles.  She is making a table centre.

This one was made by Roni with a colourful poinsettia final border.

Well done girls, hope you had fun!!
