Foundation Piecing Class

Today I introduced a group of ladies at Lyn's Fine Needlework at Baulkham Hills to paper foundation piecing techniques.

I was teaching either my compass quilt "The Way Ahead" or "Spikes and Specks".

Here is a closeup of the compass quilt:

Here is the first block that Hanna made today,  The colours are "gorgy" - the pink really pops! Wow!

Here is Lesley's block in wonderful William Morris fabrics - beautiful!

Here is a close up of my "Spikes and Specks".  I am also looking forward to teaching this quilt to two groups of ladies at the South Australian Quilt Encounter next week in Adelaide. Yay!

The other girls had not done much foundation piecing before but were very proud of their first "rings" at the end of the day.

The first one was made by Dru who is using her large stash to make the quilt.

The second one was made by Glenda who is working in the very dramatic colour scheme of red and white for the blocks and black and white for the surrounds and black as the background to her applique vines.

Sorry Maryanne, I missed a photo of your batik version but we will rectify that next time in August.

Looking forward to seeing more rings!
