Summer School at Kings Park Hobbysew

We had another great day yesterday working on jelly roll quilts.

Here are some pics:

First are Caroline's bright blocks with harlequin mask feature blocks.  Amazing!

Bev is making a quilt for her grandson who is crazy about dinosaurs.  Look at the fabulous feature blocks she made with batik surrounds.

These were made by Meredith - very yummy!

Anna continued working on her "Heartstrings" quilt for her niece.  She is using a pastel range called "Paris Flea Market" by Moda.  So lovely.

Wendy made more of her blocks for "Millefiori" - they look great:

Everyone got heaps done and we had some fun.

If you would like to join me for Summer School, I am having another class on Wednesday, 28 January at Hobbysew. Please contact the girls there to book in (phone 9621 4000).

Lots of Activity at Hobbysew Summer School, Kings Park

I had a very busy class at Hobbysew today for Summer School.

Most of the ladies were working on my new jelly roll quilt called "Autumn Lily".  We used a large variety of jelly rolls. Here are some of the blocks made so far....

More from Summer School at The Stitchers' Cupboard

We have achieved lots during the Summer School classes this week.

Robin made a complete quilt: her version of my new jelly roll "Autumn Lily" quilt.  We decided to insert a checkerboard border of squares from the left over jelly roll strips between the setting triangles and the final floral border.  Looks amazing.

Kylie is now on to the last of four heavily appliqued borders for her "Longbourne" quilt.  Nearly done.  We laid out one of the completed borders with the centre.  Stunning!

Christine has done heaps of English paper piecing for her "Longbourne".  She is using very beautiful autumnal colours.  We pinned and tacked down her hexagon border.

After much discussion, shopping, "fussy cutting", more discussion and some more shopping Kelly cut out and arranged all of the hexagons for her "Meryton" quilt centre.  This was definitely a joint effort by the whole class.  Kelly loved the Collections for a Cause fabric range called "Community" by Moda.  It has a most beautiful green/blue colour with browns and reds.  Here is what we decided on:

Gorgeous!  Thanks for the fun, ladies!  See you all again soon.

Jennie's "Meryton" Centre

Jennie has sent me a photo of the centre hexagon medallion she has already made for her "Meryton".  It is really stunning with its high contrast in values and black surrounds.

Classes commence at The Stitchers' Cupboard in February.

I am looking forward to seeing all of the wonderful combinations of fabrics and colours.

Travelling to Carolyn Konig Designs in May

I have been invited to teach the latest of my Jane Austen Quilt Collection, "Meryton", in class at Carolyn Konig Designs in Wodonga, Victoria.

The class will be held over the weekend of Saturday, 30 and Sunday, 31 May, 2015.

I always have such a great time teaching the ladies and visiting Carolyn's gorgeous shop which specialises in my kind of fabrics - reproductions from the 1800s!

Here are some photos of "Meryton" - it is an extravaganza of English paper piecing and hand applique.

My quilt was beautifully quilted by Veronica Appleyard.  The quilting shows up well in the next photograph.

If you would like to join me for this class, please contact Carolyn Konig Designs on (02) 6059 1702.

Next Instalment from Summer School

Today was the second class in Summer School at The Stitchers' Cupboard.

Kerry excelled herself by completing her "Josephine" quilt.  This is a completely machine pieced medallion design which she just started cutting out on Saturday and finished sewing by lunchtime on Wednesday.  Excellent.  It looks gorgeous.

Kerry then moved on to her hexagon centre for "Meryton".  Wow, gorgeous!

Here is Julie's "Meryton" centre, nearly done.  I love it.

This is Glenda's centre star, such gorgeous colours, very subtle.

Here are some of Robin's nine patch blocks for her "Autumn Lily" jelly roll quilt.  We hope to put it together on Friday.

Here are more of Kylie's clam shell flowers for her "Longbourne".  Yummy!

More to come on Friday.

Classes Start Up Again at The Stitchers' Cupboard

I cannot believe that the holiday period is already over.  2015 classes are underway.

It was great to see lots of my lovely friends back in class at The Stitchers' Cupboard today.

Here are some photos from the days projects:

Kerry started work on a beautiful version of my pieced medallion quilt called "Josephine".  She is using lots of prints from Leesa Chandler's "Under the Australian Sun" fabric range, featuring Australian native flora. Looking gorgeous already.

This is Kelly's very gorgeous pink and purple version of "Netherfield", the second quilt in my Jane Austen series.  Love these colours altogether.  So lovely.

Here is my "Autumn Lily" quilt and runner made from a jelly roll.

Robin could not resist starting these new projects.  Here are the first of her nine patch blocks for the quilt.

Kylie was working on the last borders for "Longbourne".  This is the centre applique motif and her purple and gold clam shell flowers are beautiful.

Natalie is working hard to complete her "Hunsford" quilt. She has made lots of the centre and eight of the outside blocks.  Take a look.  It is stunning.
