Visit to the Liverpool Catholic Club Quilters

Today I accompanied Veronica on a visit to the Liverpool Catholic Club Quilters as she took her online business to show and tell.

There was a lovely group of ladies present, lots of whom I have taught in classes in the past.  It was great to catch up with them.

Here is the display of merchandise laid out for happy shoppers:

Thanks for having us, ladies.

Lovely Trip to Nowra

My lovely girlfriend Colleen and I travelled to Nowra to the Quilting Barn today so that I could teach my ladies the first class of my "Longbourne" quilt.

The ladies had pledged to come to class with their "Pemberley" quilts from last years' classes finished. A big ask!

But Le-Anne was up for the challenge.  Here is her completed "Pemberley", absolutely stunning, and it is the first appliqué quilt she has ever made.  Well done, Le-Anne!  It is really beautiful.  I love the soft colours in the outside appliqué blocks and the stunning border.

This is Karen's "Pemberley" centre which looks very lacey.   She has used some beautiful fabrics in bright red, navy blue and touches of grey.  Wonderful.  The scallops and little borders around her pot corners have a stripe which gives the quilt a soft look, while the dark navy behind the wavy appliqué border is very striking.

This one belongs to Di.  She is still mitring the corners of her Dresden flower border.  Di says she is enjoying the process of making this quilt very much.  Excellent!  The results are great.

Well done ladies. I am looking forward to returning in a month to see the progress on your "Longbourne" quilts.

Don't forget I am presenting a talk on my work as well as showing lots of my quilts at The Stitchers Cupboard's new store at Camden on Sunday, 1st June at 2.30pm.

I am looking forward to meeting lots of Kathy's customers at the store.  Kathy has organised some special discounts and lucky door prizes for the day.

Jane Austen Quilt Class at Patchwork Plus, Miranda

My ladies at Miranda have been working very hard on their Jane Austen quilts.

Firstly, this is "Netherfield" by Val.  She has used very rich autumnal colours and has worked very hard on all the components of her quilt.

Here is Trish's "Netherfield" centre in some soft, lovely colours.

Here is Irene's centre for "Netherfield".  We pieced lots of borders on to it today. Very muted look.

Here is Mercia's work on her "Rosings".  She has done her appliqué very beautifully.

If you would like to join this class, I am at Miranda the third Wednesday of every month.  Please phone Lorraine on 02 9540 2786 to book in.  We always have fun in class and enjoy going shopping for fabric  as Lorraine has one of the best collections of fabric you will find anywhere.

More "Hunsford" Blocks

Here are some of the girls blocks from class at Pioneer Patchwork today.

These belong to Janine in pink and brown: they are really lovely.

These belong to Jan in red and blue.  Yum!

Here is Sharon's quilt taking shape:

Great work girls!

Lots of Quilts on Show!

I regularly teach a group of ladies from around Richmond.  We have been together for ten years and have shared lots of sewing, laughs and major events in our lives.

The girls often make one of my quilt projects at the same time as well as individually choose different projects to work on.

We have been working on one of my whack and stack designs called "Rococo", based on eight pointed diamonds to make Le Moyne star blocks.  Here are some of the different variations:

First is Kate's quilt in beautiful turquoise blue.  Wow!

Next is a version by Jan in a Leesa Chandler fabric in black and cream Australian native flora.

Here are Kim's blocks also of Australian native flowers in red, yellow and green.

This is Di's version in soft "Paris Flea Market" - so different and gorgeous.

Here is Mary's version from a bright Kaffe fabric in hot pink, lime green and purple!

This is Christine's version of one of my jelly roll quilt patterns called "Jelly Mosaic" where she has used a jelly roll of all Japanese fabrics.  Glorious.

Here is Jan's version of "Rose Rhapsody".  I made this quilt more than ten years ago to demonstrate Baltimore appliqué three dimensional techniques.

Some of the ladies started making my new medallion quilt called "Josephine".  This is the centre of Sally's version.  Love those repros.

This is Judy's version in aboriginal fabrics.

Thanks for another great class ladies.
